Educators can choose from a variety of subject areas for the GACE, depending on the specific certification they are pursuing. These tests are offered in two formats:
- Content Assessment: Measures knowledge in a specific content area, such as biology or social studies.
- Professional Pedagogy Assessment: Measures an educator’s understanding of teaching methodologies and strategies.
Alternative Pathways to Certification
For those who do not follow the traditional route, there are alternative pathways to obtaining the Georgia Certification of Educators. Test Prep Certifications These pathways are especially helpful for individuals who may already have a bachelor’s degree but lack formal teacher preparation. Some of the common alternative certification options include:
Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy (GaTAPP): This program allows individuals to work as a teacher while completing certification requirements. GaTAPP is suitable for career changers who already hold a degree in another field but are interested in teaching.
