It is Day 2 of India’s 3rd Test of the five-match series against England and it has been a successful day for the visitors. After India finished Day 1 on 326/5, the English took two early wickets and ultimately restricted the hosts to 445.

This still being a massive total, England raced off the barracks as they took the Indian bowling head-on. It was Ben Duckett who was playing an ultra-attacking knock by the standards of Test cricket. His opening partner Zak Crawley played a supporting role.

Playing on 97, Duckett played a beautiful on-drive to Mohammed Siraj to bring up his 3rd Test match 100 in just 88 balls.

This ton was special for a couple of reasons. Firstly, this was the third fastest century by a visiting player in India. He did so in 88 balls. This record is only bettered by absolute legends like Adam Gilchrist (84 balls) and Clive Lloyd (85 balls)

Secondly, this was the first century by an English opener in India since former captain Alistair Cook, who scored 130 in November 2016 in the very same stadium, the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, Gujarat.

While England finished the day’s play on 207/2, Ben Duckett will finish the day on a personal score of 133 runs in just 118 balls.
