Caverat And Alcohol: Is Caverta Safe When You Have Alcohol?

Caverta is a prescription medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction in men. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis. This helps men to get or maintain an erection.

Introduction:

If a drinker faces Erectile dysfunction and now looking to buy Caverta online, the first question that comes to his mind “Is Caverta safe when you have alcohol?”. Experts advise that if you are totally healthy then having one or two drinks with Caverta is usually harmless. But too much alcohol can worsen erectile dysfunction (ED) and reduce the drug’s effectiveness.

How does alcohol affect people with erectile dysfunction?:

Some people use alcohol to feel more relaxed before sex but people who drink a lot may face problems in erection.  If you already have ED, drinking alcohol likely won’t make it any easier to achieve or keep an erection. That’s because alcohol is a central nervous system downer, which means it can slow down brain signals. Your CNS plays a significant role in an erection, so slowing these signals down could potentially cause erection issues.

Effects on testosterone:

Drinking alcohol can affect testosterone levels in men. Testosterone in men is made in the testes. It plays a role in many functions of the body. It’s also the hormone most closely linked to male sexuality, and it’s responsible for the development of sexual organs and sperm. If you’re a man, consuming more than a moderate amount of alcohol may lower your testosterone levels.

Can you take Caverta with alcohol? :

Many men drink alcohol on the days they plan to use Caverta.  As long as your alcohol use is not excessive, it is likely safe for you to have a glass or two of wine or the equivalent serving of beer or spirits while taking Caverta.

Caverta comes in three different variants, Caverta 25 mg, Caverta 50 mg, and Caverta 100 mg. It is necessary to know which variant is prescribed to you by your doctor. If you are prescribed a high dose of  Caverta then you must consult with your doctor before you take alcohol along with it.

How much Caverta and alcohol is too much?:

If you are going to consume alcohol while taking Caverta, limit your alcohol intake to 1 to 2 drinks. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the amount of alcohol in a standard drink is one of the following (CDC, 2020):

  • 12 ounces of beer (5% alcohol content)

  • 8 ounces of malt liquor (7% alcohol content)

  • 5 ounces of wine (12% alcohol content)

  • 1.5 ounces or a “shot” of 80-proof (40% alcohol content) distilled spirits or liquor (e.g., gin, rum, vodka, whiskey)

Drink water or nonalcoholic beverages in between the alcoholic drinks to prevent dehydration. Know your limits, and be sure to stop drinking alcohol when you start to feel uncomfortable.

Side effects of Caverta and alcohol:

People who abuse alcohol (more than 2 to 3 drinks) and take Caverta along with it may have a higher risk of side effects. One study showed that over 45% of men who took Cavertra with alcohol for more fun purposes had a higher risk of side effects, including facial flushing, headaches, chest pain, changes in vision, and lightheadedness.

Conclusion:

It is best to avoid consuming alcohol while taking ED medications like Caverat: Not only can alcohol slow down the medication’s effects, but it can also worsen side effects, like flushing and headaches. And, talk to your doctor before drinking alcohol if you’re taking Caverta.
