In a world stuffed with theme park MMOs Elyon is more of an actual carnival. It's not in the dirty, skeezy sense, but in what Elyon offers and how it's used. Let me elaborate.
When a carnival comes to town the first thing people do is go Elyon Gold around the midway. There's a certain level of satisfaction as you experience the familiar sights and sounds of carnivals in the past. In Elyon it's exactly the same feeling I felt when I worked my way through the story and tutorial quests. Harth is a vibrant and vibrant city, just like a carnival's middle. Just like the outdated equipment of a carnival, Harth's Unreal Engine is showing its age. Even on the highest settings, the graphics can't keep up with MMOs created on newer platforms. It's fine, however, since it's pretty good looking, and you're really here to play good games, not bright and shiny images, aren't they?
It's time to go back towards the fair. After your first walk around the midway, purchase tickets and set off to explore the attractions. A quick trip in the Ferris Wheel or on a rough roller coaster or a visit to the House of Mirrors are all on tap. You've been to all of the rides many times before which is why there's no reason for you to go back waiting in line again. In Elyon this is the heart of the end game. You run your four dungeons and spend an hour in the portals of the dimension, and engage in enough PvP to earn your rewards for the day.
Let's finish up the carnival analogy. Before you declare it a day at the fair you're sure to spend every cent in your purse playing a bunch of games in the hope of winning some gigantic toy animal. You're sure to know what I'm going to do - gear progress. Like carnival games, Elyon's loot system is designed for you to lose. A single win is nothing, and stacking enough consecutive wins in a row to earn the big prize is nearly impossible. There's always someone in the crowd with a massive pink panda bear to prove that there's a chance, but the odds of you winning big? not that great.
As with a visit to the carnival even though it wasn't the greatest experience ever, My main concern is how long this fun can be around for? We're only one month from launch, and if you're not playing during the daily reset the search for a group to run dungeons with can be a struggle. Similar can be said about finding a good match for the various kinds of PvP. The fewer players there are, the harder it will be to turn an income, and it's likely that within a short time the Elyon Gold for sale financials will dictate what items are put into Cash Shop. In the event that this occurs, the players' base will shrink even further. So , I'll just keep on riding this roller coaster until it comes to a stop. Aaaaand, it's gone!
