The British Spring weather is more often than not completely unpredictable. In 2011, we experienced a record breaking Spring due to the warm weather, yet in the past, the season has also brought lots of rain and wind. If you're thinking about setting off on a short camping trip this Spring then remember to check the weather forecast just before heading off, as it can often change at the drop of a hat!
When it comes to shoes, a good pair of walking shoes is Essentials Hoodie. Trainers are fine for camping if you're sure the weather is going to be nice, however, if the ground is the even slightly damp then it's best to take a pair of wellington boots. It's always good to pack a couple of hats and pairs of gloves for the children, especially if you are going to be doing any hill-walking. However, try to avoid leather gloves as these often prevent hands from breathing.
Jeans are generally not recommended for camping. Not only do they restrict movement but they take a long time to dry if you get caught in the rain during a long walk. Light trousers, or shorts if you know it will be warm enough, are great for camping. In Spring, and even in summer, cosy pyjamas are a must-have for every camper. No matter how warm it is during the day, the temperature can often drop quite drastically at night-time, therefore it's important to pack warm nightwear.
A great camping tip is to layer your Essentials Clothing. The purpose of layering clothing is to easily regulate your body temperature by removing and adding layers. If you are spending a good few days outdoors it's recommended that you wear a base layer, i.e. a fabric blend t-shirt underneath a mid-layer which will trap in your body heat. The top layer is usually a thin wind and water-proof layer to protect you from the elements.
One item of clothing which has grown to be a great camping favourite is the classic hoodie. Its versatility is what makes it a great piece of camping clothing. Many styles are now fleece lined and can be worn as outer wear. They are brilliant for layering as they can easily be worn on top of a t-shirt or even light jumpers and can still be worn underneath light waterproof jackets. Hoodies are also great for kids, especially the, which can be unzipped when they get too warm from all that running around. The zip through hoodies are also really convenient for adults and come in a variety of styles including long jumper dress style hoodies.
