Ylang-ylang is yellow and is a star-shaped flower that grows on the Cananga tree. The ylang-ylang oil is native to countries surrounding the Indian Ocean. The ylang-ylang flower is used to make various types of essential oil through steam distillation. Ylang-ylang is an essential oil derived from the ylang-ylang flower.  It is pale yellow, oily liquid with an intensely sweet, soft, floral-balsamic, slightly spicy scent. It is extensively used as a fragrance component and fixative in soaps, cosmetics and perfumes.

Bergamot oil, Cinnamon oil, Clove oil, Frankincense oil, Lavender oil, Lemon oil, Patchouli oil, Vetiver oil

 

BENEFITS

 

  • Ylang-ylang relieves anxiety and increases self-esteem when applied to the skin or inhaled.
  • Inhaling ylang-ylang oil can have a sedative effect by reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure rates and heart rate.
  • Ylang-ylang oil is used as a remedy to increase sexual desire and reduce sexual tension.
  • Wintergreen is quickly absorbed into the skin and acts like a natural numbing agent, which is similar to cortisone.

HOW TO USE

 

  • You can use ylang-ylang mixed with a carrier oil and used for dry skincare and massage it on the scalp to facilitate oil production and reduce dryness.
  • For conditioning hair health, mix 2-3 drops of ylang-ylang essential oil into 2 Tbsp coconut carrier oil and massage with it.
  • The oil has antioxidant effects that slow down the aging process, take 1-2 drops of ylang-ylang oil that can be added to the usual face cream and gently massage into the skin.
  • To promote hair growth, pour ½ cup of coconut carrier oil with ylang-ylang oil into a clean container. 1-2 hours before showering, massage the blend into the scalp and hair and allow it to soak and wash with a shampoo.

 

CAUTIONS

  • Ylang-ylang includes various allergens, such as isoeugenol. It can irritate the skin when applied topically.
  • As with any other essential oils, do not apply this oil in full strength to the skin. Ylang-ylang should be mixed with carrier oil for a patch test.
